A goldsmith’s work – Bas-relief, engraving or sculpture

As a manufacturer of natural limestone from Burgundy, we can make all kind of sculptures, engravings, bas-reliefs. We regularly work on personalized sinks or washbasins with a bas-relief on the front panel. This can be different motifs (bunches of grapes, mountains, flowers…) or family coat of arms.

Each house or family has its history that can be enhanced in these high-end stone-cutting elements : mountain and edelweiss bas-reliefs for a chalet in the Alps, bunches of grapes in a wine region or for wine enthusiasts…

You can draw us a sketch to tell us what you want. We will confirm if it is feasible as it is or if adaptations must be made due to technical constraints (too thin details for stone cutting for example). You can also simply tell us the general idea or theme and we will make you a proposal. Engravings, sculptures… are all the more perfect in hard stones such as Comblanchien limestone or Corton.

Several words are used but with different meanings : a bas-relief is a protruding sculpture of the stone, an engraving is an hollow in the stone. It is more technical, time-consuming and expensive to make a bas-relief – this also requires an additional volume of stone that will be removed around the bas-relief. Sculpture is the more generic name that encompasses bas-relief and engraving.

It is a goldsmith’s work, which will be made 100% by hand from a simple pen drawing. Count at least 1500 euros vat excluded for a bas-relief on a sink or basin. Each project is specific, do not hesitate to ask us for a costing.

We also make engraved or screen-printed plates (inauguration plate, house name, family or regional coat of arms…)
