100% Côte d'Or know-how

Le Comptoir des Pierres has obtained the "Savoir Faire 100% Côte d'Or" certification, a mark of the Departmental Council for a part of its products. Indeed, our stones originate from Burgundy and mainly from Côte d'Or (21): Comblanchien, Corton, Lanvignes, Semond, Ampilly... We also work with stones from Yonne (89), which obviously do not fall under this brand.

We are proud to promote the department of Côte d'Or and, more broadly, Burgundy. Since our inception, we have been fully integrated into the Côte d'Or region. We have established our workshop in Comblanchien (21700) on 6,500 m², creating jobs with currently about fifteen employees, and we gladly participate in local events (Hospices de Beaune Wine Auction, Habitat Fair, etc.)

"Savoir faire (or Know-how) 100% Côte d'Or"

100% Côte-d'Or expertise

To raise awareness and recognition for the products and artisanal know-how of the Côte d'Or department, this is the mission of the "Savoir Faire 100% Côte d'Or" brand. This brand was launched in 2019 by the Departmental Council during the Gastronomic Fair in Dijon. Given that Côte d'Or (department 21) has a strong agri-food sector, it was natural that the first products labeled "Savoir Faire 100% Côte d'Or" came from the food industry. The baguette is even the emblem of the brand.

The brand then quickly expanded to the "Stone - Earth - Wood" sectors. Stone is an important industry in Côte d'Or, encompassing quarries, processors (stonecutters), and installers (masons, tilers, landscapers, pool builders...). Numerous monuments and private residences are adorned with natural stones from Burgundy, particularly from Côte d'Or, which are sedimentary limestone stones. The Musée des Beaux Arts de Dijon (Corton stone), the city center of Dijon, and Nuits-Saint-Georges (Comblanchien stone)... there are many local references.

The approval committee of the brand, which includes the Côte d'Or department, the Chamber of Agriculture, the Chamber of Trades and Crafts, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Union of Trades and Hospitality Industries, validated the application of Le Comptoir des Pierres on November 17, 2022.

The "100% Côte d'Or" brand has ambassadors, notably starred chefs who promote local products, whether it be on the plate or in their restaurant (Burgundy stone used for paving or even as a presentation dish...).

Côte-d'Or Expertise Committee

Le Comptoir des Pierres "100% Côte d'Or natural limestone products"

Joining this initiative is our way of promoting short supply chains. Indeed, the majority of our product range is made with limestones extracted in Côte d'Or and processed at our workshop in Comblanchien, between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune. This significantly reduces the ecological impact of transport between the quarries and the workshop, especially with Comblanchien stone—the workshop is barely 500 meters from the extraction site.

Thinking in terms of short supply chains also helps economically by limiting price increases that we all face, with a lesser impact from energy costs (regarding transport). The limestones we highlight under this brand are : Comblanchien (from the village of the same name), Corton (from Ladoix-Serrigny) - these two limestones originate from what we call the Côte basin. We also work with stones from the Châtillon-sur-Seine region (northern Côte d'Or): Lanvignes (from the village of Coulmier), Semond (village of the same name), and Ampilly. To a lesser extent, Buffon and Beaunotte stones are also processed at our workshop.

The types of finished products we create with these limestone stones are very diverse : paving, cobblestones, sinks, basins, shower trays, pillars, coping, capping, engraved plaques... You can explore these possibilities on our website under the "Our Products" tab. Comblanchien stone is widely used in public works : cobblestones, tramway curbs, benches... and also in private homes for kitchen countertops, sinks, basins... The warmer-colored stones from Châtillonnais are predominant in individual house flooring or building elements: frames, pillars, dormers, wall tops... Each stone has its specific uses.
