Our other limestones

We work with 15 limestones, which are 90% extracted from Burgundy-Franche Comté.

We have introduced our 6 main limestones to you : Lanvignes, Semond, Ampilly (from the Châtillon-sur-Seine region), Rocherons, and Corton (from the Côte-d'Or region), and finally, Charmot stone (from the Tonnerrois region in Yonne).

However, we work with 15 different stones, allowing us to offer a wider range of colors and grains. These other stones are often offered with a less extensive range of possibilities than our 6 main stones, whether in terms of flooring dimensions or types of work (kitchen, bath, building, wall, garden...). Nevertheless, feel free to contact us for your specific project; as manufacturers, we will study your requests to provide you with feedback on feasibility and pricing.

The vast majority of these stones are extracted from the 4 departments of historic Burgundy (Côte-d'Or, Saône-et-Loire, Yonne, and Nièvre). Our exception is Belgian blue stone (originating from Belgium) - which allows us to create cabochon pavings. These stone have shades ranging from gray to black, which do not exist in Burgundy; the stones there are mostly beige cream to golden yellow in color.

Our other limestones (Bourgogne-Franche Comté)

BEAUNOTTE

Its original structure, with contrasting colors and pronounced veining rich in shells, gives it a spirit that is both classic and contemporary.

Beaunotte stone originates from the Chatillon-sur-Seine region (north Côte d'Or). It fully expresses itself with 'rustic' finishes: Brushed straight edge, Monastery (brushed with chamfered edges), or Antique (brushed with brushed edges).

We mainly work with Beaunotte stone for paving and on-demand for building elements (lintels, frames, cornices...) or pool copings and wall tops. However, we do not make sinks, basins, or shower trays in Beaunotte.

BLEU DE LIGNIERES

A very elegant gray-blue Burgundy limestone that will integrate perfectly into contemporary or modern interiors. This Blue Lignières stone (from the Yonne department) is a Geographical Indication Protected Burgundy limestone.

Ideal for your bathroom projects in paving or wall cladding, it will perfectly harmonize with our sinks, basins, or shower trays in gray-blue color. It will also enhance your kitchen or living room project as a floor covering.

BUFFON

The Buffon limestone is a natural stone from the region of Châtillon-sur-Seine (Northern Côte d'Or). This natural stone is white or beige in color.

The Buffon quarry located in Etrochey offers us light stones tending towards white for some. This stone is intended only for interior projects and shows all its charms in a honed finish. Some benches (levels in the quarry or vein) of Buffon are particularly suitable for heavy traffic and are thus used for shopping centers, public places...

Several benches exist in the Buffon quarry with relatively significant color variations. We have selected 5 benches for you. Depending on their characteristics, we cut them either "in pass" (horizontally or in the direction of the quarry bed; that is to say in the direction of sedimentation) or "against pass" (vertically - against the grain). A cut "against pass" highlights the sedimentation beds and thus allows to obtain a more veined, more textured paving.

We mainly offer Buffon stone in paving as an alternative to Charmot limestone. Upon request, we can make sinks, basins, shower trays, kitchen countertops... in Buffon stone.

CHASSAGNE

The Chassagne limestone, one of the noblest stones extracted in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, is also one of the rarest. Indeed, the quarry located in the commune of Chassagne (also known for its Grand Crus: Chassagne-Montrachet, Batard-Montrachet...) is no longer in operation.

We still have paving or wall cladding available in Chassagne stone with shades ranging from pink to violet or Chassagne Beauharnais (beige without pink or violet veins). Chassagne stone (especially Beauharnais) contains glass veins, which adds to its charm (quartz veins). These glass veins are much harder than the stone itself (with no risk of breakage).

We offer only one finish that enhances Chassagne stone, which is the honed finish for all your interior projects. We have only 2 batches of Chassagne left: Chassagne Blended and Chassagne Beauharnais.

Given the dwindling stocks of Chassagne stone, we can only offer our current stock of paving and small-scale projects (mainly engraved plaques and street numbers). It is impossible for us to make, for example, a sink or basin in Chassagne limestone.

COMBLANCHIEN

The Comblanchien limestone is undoubtedly the best-known of the Burgundy limestones. Its reputation and renown are mainly due to its resistance and the appearance of this stone.

The Comblanchien stone has aspects similar to marble with a light beige background and slight pink veining. Its grain is particularly fine and compact. There are few shells. Overall, it is quite homogeneous. Moreover, there is no product category that cannot be made with Comblanchien stone : paving, kitchen, bathroom, building, copings, wall cappings...

2 "variants" of Comblanchien limestone exist : Comblanchien Light and Comblanchien Slightly Speckled. The main difference lies in the density of shells between these two layers of stone.

The Comblanchien Light is the purest part of the Comblanchien quarry. It is the most homogeneous layer. Its beige-pink color has a very fine grain. For us, it is sublimated in a honed finish, ideal for engravings.

In the quarry, there is a “layer” (which means a level or vein depending on the geological characteristics) of stone that we call Slightly Speckled Comblanchien. The stone has the same tones as Light Comblanchien but with more shells and fossils, while retaining the same technical characteristics. We offer this stone as a less expensive alternative for building or funerary elements. For paving, we only offer Light Comblanchien stone in a honed finish.

This stone has been used in Taipei 101 Tower in Taiwan (24,000 m²), the BHV department store in Paris, the Cité de la Gastronomie in Dijon, the honor pavilion of Orly airport, and in many private estates in France and Europe.

MASSANGIS BEIGE CLAIR

The Massangis stone, used in construction since the 12th century and extracted from the Tonnerrois basin, is admired by Parisians and tourists alike every day on the pillars of the Eiffel Tower. The Massangis quarry is also one of the most beautiful quarries in France, with a cutting depth of 22 meters (see photos).

Massangis Beige Clair stone is available in both modern finishes (honed or brushed) and more rustic finishes (Monastery, Old Beaune, or Antique). Its average density is 2400 kg/m3.

Upon request, we can also select a particular color in the quarry : yellow or light yellow for added warmth, or nuanced light for a more contemporary look. However, the most competitively priced option remains Massangis Beige Clair limestone (without sorting for nuances).

In addition to paving, Massangis limestone can be used to create sinks, washbasins, shower trays, stairs, coping stones, and more.

YONNE LIMESTONE

This limestone, originating from Yonne and also known as Molay limestone, has been granted Protected Geographical Indication status since June 2018 as part of the classification of Burgundy limestones.

This stone from Yonne is primarily used for making wall stones, rubble stones, strips, facings, and opus incertum... As you can understand, this stone is mainly dedicated to the construction of walls or low walls, stepping stones, or even paving on sand or in grass.

Its natural raw finish gives it an extraordinary charm and highlights this stone extracted from a quarry formed over 160 million years ago

SAINT MARTIN BELLE ROCHE

The Saint Martin Belle Roche stone is a hard stone from Burgundy. Its extraction basin is located in Saône-et-Loire. The uses of this natural stone from Burgundy, recognized as a Protected Geographical Indication, are numerous due to its non-frost and hard characteristics.

This limestone is used in indoor and outdoor flooring in a variety of finishes including smoothed, monastery, and flamed. We have standardized a short range in 35 cm strips in free lengths or in fixed format of 60 x 35 cm. Your wall copings or pool coping stones can also be made in Saint Martin limestone. More exhaustively, we can almost produce all our products in Saint-Martin stone (sinks, basins, shower trays, fountains, funeral monuments...).

Do not hesitate to contact us for all your projects.

BELGIAN BLUE STONE - BELGIUM

This limestone with its distinctive tone and smooth surface is particularly suitable for sinks, single or double-basin sinks, kitchen countertops, vanity tops, and other crafted elements. It's also ideal for indoor floor pavements, for creating black cabochons in cabochon pavements, for checkerboard pavements, and even for stairs. Finished in Smooth Black or Smooth Gray.

All our models of sinks, washbasins, and shower trays are available in Blue Stone (origin Belgium).
