How thick for my paving project?
Several criteria must be taken into account to select the thickness of the paving corresponding to your projects :
-Support / type of laying (adhesive, on screed, on sand or on pedestals)
-Usage (pedestrian, light vehicle or heavy vehicle)
-Dimensions of tiles or cobble stones
Adhesive fixing indoors or on the terrace / pedestrian walkway - Thickness of 1.5 or 2 cm
Burgundy limestone is made at least 1.5 cm thick; depending on the type of stone, the size of the tiles and your technical constraints, a thickness of 2 cm can be proposed. Do not worry about the choice, if you do not specify, we will propose the most suitable thickness.
Adhesive laying for a driveway - A minimum of 3 cm in fixed size format
In fixed size format (up to 20 x 20 cm), 3 cm will be necessary when laid according to local building regulations. In fixed size (up to 60 x 40 cm), 4 cm will be necessary this time.
Be careful however these recommendations are valid for light vehicles and maximum up to 10 tons. Consult us for heavy vehicles.

Sealed installation on mortar – From 4 to 8 cm depending on the size of the slabs
In paver formats : 4 cm; in slab format (max 60 x 40 cm) : 6 cm; other larger formats : from 8 to 10 cm
Sand installation – A minimum of 3 cm for a pedestrian walkway
Used outdoors for your walkways or home entrances, this base allows you to avoid the use of a cement substrate. For pedestrian use, 3 cm will be sufficient. For a driveway intended for light vehicles only, 6 cm is recommended. For roadways, a minimum of 8 cm is required.
In the same way as with glued installation, the maximum size of the slabs is 60 x 40 cm.
Raised pedestal installation for your terrace
A minimum thickness of 4 cm must be used for pedestal installation; indeed, the slabs are not traditionally glued but rest solely on four pedestals at the corners.
The wall cladding
We always offer our wall cladding in a thickness of 1.5 cm, although an installation with a thickness of 2 cm does not involve any additional technical constraints.
