Floorings and Pavings

Discover our paving tiles in authentic Belgian Bluestone.

Recognized as one of the best natural building materials alongside Burgundy stone, Belgian Blue Stone is a sedimentary limestone.

Belgian Blue Stone is characterized by the presence of numerous fossil fragments, cemented by a microcrystalline matrix containing finely divided carbon. Its color ranges from light gray to deep black depending on the finish (patinated, brushed, or antique).

This stone is used to create cabochon-patterned flooring.

We also craft Belgian Blue Stone sinks, basins, and blue stone shower trays. Contact us for any project in Belgian Blue Stone.

Opus in natural stone.

We work on 2 types of opus incertum n: opus incertum brut in Burgundy stone and opus incertum sawn. In general, opus incertum is a stone with varied and irregular formats (length and width). We must not confuse the opus incertum with the Roman opus which is a specific layout.

The sawn opus incertum is a set of slabs in various formats made from different stones, ranging in color from golden-yellow to light beige (Ampilly, Lanvignes, and Semond). These stones originate from the Châtillon-sur-Seine region. Currently, our stock consists exclusively of Ampilly stone. The pallets contain a mix of different finishes (honed, brushed, monastery). The average slab size is 30 x 40 cm, but there are also smaller and larger pieces (up to 60 x 40 cm).

The price is unbeatable for French natural limestone, making it an excellent choice for terraces or pathways. This is due to our workshop process : as a manufacturer, we cut and shape our stone blocks into calibrated paving. When we reach the end of a block and there is not enough material left for a standard-sized slab, we recycle these "offcuts" into opus incertum, creating multi-format slabs.

These stones can also be trimmed by hand to create rectangular slabs in various formats (see photos 1, 3, and 4). In this case, you should plan for twice the amount of stone needed for the surface area to be covered. While the price remains very affordable for natural stone, the installation requires a significant amount of work.

We always have stock calibrated in thickness 2 cm.

Note: These opus patterns are sold by default without the IG Pierre de Bourgogne designation and are simply labeled as opus in Châtillonnais stone. Upon request, we can provide opus with the IG Pierre de Bourgogne designation.

Buffon limestone – Natural stone from the region of Châtillon-sur-Seine (North Côte d’Or). Natural white or beige stone. Light colored stone.

The Buffon quarry located in Etrochey offers us mainly light colors (white to beige). This stone is only intended for interior projects and shows all its charms in honed finish. Some level in the quarry (or vein) of the Buffon limestone are particularly suited to heavy traffic and are thus used for shopping centers, public places …

Several levels exist in Buffon’s quarry with relatively large variations in colors. We have selected 5 “types” of Buffon limestone for you. Depending on their characteristic, we cut them either horizontally or in the direction of the bed of the quarry; that is to say in the direction of sedimentation or vertically. A vertical cut highlights the sedimentation beds and thus makes it possible to obtain a more veined, more textured pavement.

Custom made Burgundy limestone

We can manufacture in the same stone and finish as your flooring : your skirting, your stairs, your thresholds, your window sills, your window and doors frames, your kitchen sink, your washbasin and shower tray for the bathroom, your pool coping,… Thanks to these materials and being a manufacturer we can study and offer a large range of products.

For your full understanding: the stones of Buffon and Chassagne, although extracted in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, are not recognized under the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) "Pierre de Bourgogne" and therefore do not benefit from the designation.

Blue stone (origin Belgium) for a color contrast with Burgundy limestone paving and cobblestones.

We work with blue stone (origin Belgium) for darker tones that contrast with our Burgundy stones: cabochon paving, checkerboard paving, peripheral bands, and the Saint-Sauveur model paving. The more polished the blue stone is, the closer it gets to black. Conversely, in an aged finish, it will have a light gray/dark gray color.

Find all useful information about our paving (tiles) and cobblestones in the "Our Advice" section, as well as suggested readings in the left column of this page. This includes everything from installation to stone treatment and maintenance, with explanations on formats, thicknesses, our in-stock paving, and baseboards for your interior projects.
