Natural stone funerary stele. Grave marker
A stele, also called a milestone or standing stone, is a vertical monument with or without engraving.
It serves various purposes: commemorative, funerary, or geographical. In funerary contexts, it is often combined with a tombstone but can also be used with only a surrounding structure. These steles are dimensioned for funerary or cinerary monuments. They are often engraved to allow identification of the deceased. The stele is fixed onto a base, a foundation, or a slab; metal dowels (screws) secure it to its support.
As stone cutters, we can create fully customized projects: rectangular steles, trapezoidal steles (wider at the top), sloped steles (or beveled steles), molded steles (ogee, curved, rounded, basket-handle, or gendarme cap). The stele can also take the shape of a cross for Christian monuments. Additionally, we can produce personalized steles in the shape of a heart, star, book, or a design representing a passion or personality trait. Send us your sketch for pricing.
