How to fix our tiles ?

Laying of tiles in Burgundy limestone

The tiles in Burgundy limestone that we make are generally laid by a qualified person (tiler, mason). The glued laying is also totally possible for any good handyman. It may seem complex, in fact laying stone paving is no more complicated than laying a classic tile, as soon as you respect some advices …

Our stones could be laid indifferently on traditional mortar screed (cement or ideally lime) or glued on a concrete slab or any compatible support.

The laying on mortar

To lay tiles in Burgundy limestone, you will prepare a mortar of cement or lime dosed according to the recommendations of DTU 52.1 et 52.2

Be careful : never wet the tiles before laying, regardless of the type of fixing chosen.

The glued laying

A white or beige glue compatible with natural Burgundy stone must be used. After several years of experience, we have selected and marketed for you the most adapted products to enhance your Burgundy stone creations. According to an indoor or outdoor laying, the glue won’t be the same : Parexlanko Prolipro 522 for indoors and Parexlanko Proliterrasse 5021 for outdoors. The Parexlanko brand is indeed a reference in the world of building materials.

Be careful, in the case of a laying on a heating floor, you must use a compatible glue, we advise the reference Parexlanko Prolicrème 5074 with variable consistency.

Provided as a powder, the glue requires a supply of water until the desired consistency.

You will use a notched spatula of 8 or 10 mm depending on the support.

We recommend double-face gluing for large format slabs in order to facilitate and maintain the installation.

We always invite you to check the indications on the packaging and manufacturer’s specifications before use.

A bond caoting may also be necessary depending on the support (old tile for example), we recommand Proliprim, a ready-to-use product to apply with paint roller

Traditionnal joints

The joints will preferably be made with hydraulic + sand lime. Natural pigments can be added to tint the joint.

Be careful : make the joints one by one and do not spread widely on the slabs. You will take care not to dirty the pavement.

Joints from DIY stores

The simplest is to use ready-to-use products like the joint Parexlanko Prolijoint 542 compatible with natural stone, which is suitable for indoors and outdoors and also for heating floors.

For any reference, always perform a test on a small surface in a place that will be hidden to check the compatibility of the product with the natural stone.
